notlikeduck's blog

A few weeks ago, I reached Expert on my 4th contest and found a new button on the sidebar: "Propose a contest/problems." I didn't think much of it, until I talked to my friends about this. One of them did not see this button until they reached CM and their 17th contest.

I searched around and found these two blogs on the topic:

How to set a round on Codeforces and For contest writers: proposal tracking system

It seems like these blogs have not been updated in a while, and I haven't found more recent blogs answering my questions. So, I would like to know:

  1. What is the exact requirement for this button to appear, and why does it seem to be different for different people?

  2. The requirement seems to have changed since these blogs were made, but I did not see any updates on the blog posts. Where are these changes being publicized?

Thank you in advance for the information!

Interesting, I never saw a "Propose a contest/problems" on my sidebar when I reached expert.

It probably is a glitch lol see what happens when you press it but don't write anything if something does happen

Same thing happened with me. I became expert in January, and there was this button in my sidebar. But when I again became expert, that button was gone. I wonder what are the conditions for that button?

They changed the requirements a while ago. https://codeforces.com/blog/entry/85259

Yes, I looked at this blog. They say that to propose a problem/contest, the requirements are "rating: orange or above, or was a writer in the past." I meet neither of these requirements, and it seems the blog post hasn't been updated in a while, so I'm curious about why this button appeared for me.

That's weird, I don't have that button on my sidebar. Does anything happen when you click on that?

I think its related to the fact that in the new system your hidden rating is not your shown rating until you have done 6 contests. After the fourth contest your shown rating is still -150 to your hidden rating. Means your hidden rating was already 1900+. I think thats why you already saw the button.
