Good evening everyone!

TL;DR: I am in Luxor preparing for ICPC WF and making some photos, and also I was offered to (and I will) give an interview to Shayan, please send your questions.

As you may know, in December 2022 I qualified for ICPC WF 2023 from St Petersburg State University, which (together with ICPC WF 2022) takes place April 14-19, 2024 in Luxor.

I've been in Luxor for three days now. Our team still experiences a little jet lag, which means that I sleep not only at night, but also for about three hours during the day. I hope it goes away soon.

The community of programmers I interacted with five years ago is now scattered all over the world, but big onsite events like ICPC can bring us all together for a short while. So today I had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of wonderful people, but unfortunately I forgot to take photos with almost all of them. However, here are some photos.

Farewell
Cairo
Soup
Havka - ne papstvo
Urgant team
Ancient ruins

If possible, I will definitely take a photo with Petr, tourist, never_giveup, LHiC, pashka, andrewzta, and everyone else who agrees. And, of course, we will try our best to perform well. The contest starts on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 12:00UTC+2 and lasts 5 hours (https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20240418T1200&p1=4626&msg=ICPC%20WF%202022–2023&fromtheme=generic), please cheer for us on ICPC Live!

The last but not the least, recently Shayan contacted me and offered me to give him an interview on https://www.youtube.com/@InterviewWithCPLegends, and I accepted the offer. The interview will be recorded and uploaded in several days. For now, please write your proposed questions in the Discord channel or in the comments under this post!

UPD: More photos from 16 April!

UPDUPD: The Finals did not exceptionally well for me, sigh. But I have a bit more nice photos from 18 April!

  • Cheops' house

  • A sphinx

I also have a photo with some random tourist. He is not aware of being on that photo though, so uploading this photo is probably not the least contentious action in my armory.

Very cool! My question would be, what is your favorite part about competitive programming?

  1. How do you approach solving difficult algorithmic problems during a contest?

  2. What do you think are the key skills or qualities that make a successful competitive programmer?

  3. How do you handle moments of frustration or setbacks during contests or practice sessions?

  4. Can you share some tips for effectively managing time during a contest?

Many people do not know who Shayan actually is, he's done much valuable efforts in INOI and has been a great idol and teacher for Iranian students, ask him about INOI, the efforts he's done, team selection test,...

How Grandmaster manages his/her time during a coding competition, Asking about specific time management techniques, such as how they prioritize problems, allocate time for each problem, and handle unexpected challenges or bugs efficiently, could provide valuable insights for other participants looking to improve their competition performance.

Wish you all the best in ICPC.

ask orz,

what math should we do besides normal practicing to improve problem solving skills

why he solved only 800 problem on codeforces while he's registered 10 years ago, what other judges he practice on

what resources he depends on while learning new topics

how he balance between blind and topic practicing

what other online contests he do rather than codeforces

It still has not been recorded. Alas we still have not been able to agree on a time.
