Dear Santa Claus. Please make 2023 a happy year, not just that. Please, we all need this.

Change Handle Feature

Hurry! Only until the 10th of January, you can change your handle (but only once)! Note that it will be possible to roll back the changes or change the handle again only after a year. Be careful what you wish for.

You can change your handle to the new one which wasn't used before by anybody or which was used by you before. The links to a profile page with an old handle would automatically redirect to the actual profile.

Again, this year if you took part in at least 10 rounds you can request a handle of an inactive participant. It means that the participant should have a period of activity on Codeforces of at most 180 days, this period should be in 2020 or earlier. The inactive participant can't have posted comments, messages, and so on. It can't take part in more than 2 contests. It will be automatically renamed and informed by email. A user has the opportunity to request back his/her handle: in this case, we will roll back the change and return your previous handle to you. If you can't change your handle to another, it means that some requirements don't meet. Please do not ask me to do something with it. Especially, I do not like requests like "this is my second account, I took an interesting handle myself". I'm not Santa Claus.

Talking about handles I always
reminisce the following story. Once a user wrote me the message: "Please change my handle from I_love_Valya to I_love_Sveta, as I no longer love Valya ..."

I'm back for the 3rd year in a row to ask about getting the handle of a broken account back... here's what I wrote about it last year:

I want the handle of this account: emorgan. The account has never been logged into to. I made this account in 2019, but never got the confirmation email to set up my account, so I had to try again with a different email and different handle (which became the account I use today).

The account only has activity in 2019, so I should be able to take its handle. But when I try to switch, I get the error message "This handle is currently in use".

Last year, about when the account I want to steal the handle from should have its latest activity, the announcement said it "should be in 2019 or earlier". But I suspected this was a typo and it was supposed to actually say 2018, which was why I wasn't able take it.

Now the announcement says the latest activity should be in 2020, which is probably wrong again, it should say 2019. But, although emorgan has its latest activity on 2019-11-11, I still can't take the handle! I still get the same error message! Does this feature even work at all?

After Argentina's world cup victory, everyone in my friend list changing their profile picture to "Lionel Messi's trophy carrying photo" , I don't know who is who because everybody's profile is looking the same..... So, this " MAGIC " feature on codeforces will do the same I think, now everybody is a Legendary Grandmaster and everyone's profile is looking the same.

      Muslims don't marry 5, the limit is 4. It is one's choice whether he marries one or four. Except countries like India, most other countries like US have more female population than man, and in the past, man population was significantly less than women since man mostly die in wars and by other causes. So it's logical that polygamy should be allowed. No Muslim marries his/her siblings. Islam permits one to marry his or her cousin and there is nothing wrong if they wish to marry. Islam is inclusive religion, it is for all, it is for poors, it is for rich, it is for illiterates, it is for educated. All are equal in front of Allah. May Allah bless you and guide you. MikeMirzayanov I want to change my user handle to Andalus, which is currently with an inactive user Andalus. However, I suspect that the only reason why I'm unable to do so is because I myself sent a message to this user a few months ago, requesting their handle. The message is still unread now.

I understand the reasoning for why we can't claim the handle of someone who has any private messages, but can an exception please be considered if the user's only private messages are unread incoming messages from the user who is requesting their handle?
