I started CP about a year ago, wich isn't much. And when I started, I just accepted the fact that tourist is the top rated user.
And that was the case for a long time until Benq became the top rated for a period of time, and now both Benq and jiangly are above tourist in this list, wich got me thinking:
Who was the top rated user before tourist? I mean of course tourist wasn't the first codeforces user and even if was the top rated for a long time there must be period like this when someone is higher than him in the list.

Tourist joined very early on Codeforces (he participated in Beta Round 2) so he was top rated almost since the beginning: but still, he didn't get it immediately.

Vepifanov won Beta Round 1, so he was top rated. Then after Round 3, Petr won and got top rated. Vepifanov got top rated again for a single round (23). Then Anton_Lunyov got top rated for the next few rounds. It seems Egor got top rated for a split second but then dzhulgakov got 1st and tourist got 2nd, only 2 points behind. Then finally in October 2010 (8 months after Beta Round 1), tourist got 1st a few contests later.
Petr briefly surpasses tourist in September 2011, and again briefly in July 2016, and in March 2018 tourist drops to 6th and Petr & Um_nik both briefly get 1st. Then in 2018 mnbvmar and Radewoosh both surpass tourist for a bit. This video stops in 2019, and later Benq and jiangly do surpass tourist a few times. But I would estimate tourist has been first for >90% of codeforces's existence.
