Hello, Codeforces. Friends.

I apologize, but today I will be a bit chaotic and mix personal with public. It just happened that way, I'm sorry.

Today, my mother passed away. It's hard for me to write this. Even just seeing it in text makes it feel like something from a nightmare.

She was extraordinary. It's difficult for me to articulate it right now, but take my word for it. It felt like all the best qualities one could imagine in a mother converged in her. I don't know any other people so kind, sincere, non-judgmental, capable of love, listening, befriending, supporting, and taking joy in the world around them, and bringing joy to their loved ones. Mom, it's already hard without you, it feels empty.

She had glioblastoma. It's an aggressive brain cancer that affects only a few people out of 100,000. I believe, I hope, that science will soon be able to tackle this disease. But for now, this diagnosis is a death sentence. Maybe some of you are or will be associated with medicine. I want to say thank you, I hug you.

Perhaps this is some form of catharsis, but visiting the Codeforces pages today, I pondered why I do this. What am I seeking here?

I want to enter another world. A world free from the insoluble problems of human ambition. A world where we discuss problems, algorithms, and programming.

The world is unjust and restless. It has black, white, blood-red, and some gray shades of unclear tones. But here, on Codeforces, I'm not looking for answers to all questions. I hug all of you and wish you peace, tranquility, and joy.

You may perceive this as a whim of mine, but now I don't want to see topics here that are considerably broader than programming, mathematics, and life outside our competitions. I want a united community, an intellectual oasis.

Focus on our competitions, not on global issues, will help me personally continue to be engaged in the community, develop and move it forward.

Please refrain from making posts, comments, or any other forms of expression on contentious topics like national/ethnic conflicts, politics, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity, and any other topics distant from programming competitions that might lead to disputes or conflicts. We won't solve these problems here, we just can't.

Give me some time, and I will likely hide the most contentious posts on these topics. Please refrain from publishing anything that is beyond or close to the boundary mentioned above. By publishing materials that contain signs of such discussions, be prepared for read-only mode and other administrative measures.

I realize that I'm now limiting Codeforces and diminishing the community's involvement in our lives. But this is how I feel today, and I ask for your understanding. I wish you peace and love.

        Probably because Mike is Christian, or his mother was, at least. He's Russian..

        P.S: RIP is usually said by Christians, while "May Allah.." is Muslim.

          In Arab countries Allah is used by both and May Allah give her mercy or something is also used by both (Allah means God)

            As I said before, I'm not really into it. If someone wishes you good be it Muslim, Christian or any other way, I don't think that's any bad. That's probably because I'm NEUTRAL with it.

            However, if you look into it from a Christian POV, they don't believe in Allah. Yes, it means a god, but as far as I know, it means Muslim god, specifically. I haven't seen a Christian referring to his/her god as Allah. That's why one might say it's a "Muslim property", and seeing someone without any relation reply over a "Christian comment" in a "Muslim manner" might be seen as disproving Christianity and that's probably upsetting for some, I guess.

              Yeah I get what you mean. I just wanted to make it clear. "haven't seen a Christian referring to his/her god as Allah" yeah you're right when they type in English but in Arabic they do say that. I personally think it's kinda weird to write Allah instead of God because it's not a name, it's not a word.

        I would argue that it is pretty ignorant to praise a mother just because she gave birth to you. A mother is much more than a child-producing machine, she is ultimately an educator, a person who molds her child, a mold that will likely remain in that child's adulthood. In other words, a good mother is good not because she gave birth to you, but because she ensured you had a happy childhood and that you develop into a good adult.

        With this in mind, an adoptive mother for example can absolutely be a good mother. Also, there are (at least in Romania) pretty many cases of biological mothers abandoning their children soon after birth.

        Finally, notice that Mike praised his mother for exactly the reason above: she was "kind, sincere, non-judgmental, capable of love, listening", etc.

Competitive programming is magical in that everything has a fixed solution here. Through hard work, through insights, through careful implementation, it is always possible to reach it. It’s like Newtonian physics where the world is an accurate place, ready for you to discover , to understand.

Sadly, what we have around us is a world of chaos, of uncertainty, of unjust. Yet, we can still keep the magical aura here on Codeforces, where we rejoice for a newly discovered algorithm, comment in awe for a carefully crafted solution, or be inspired by a problem to create something greater and more beautiful.

May your mother rest in peace, and may we all keep Codeforces a warm home to return to.

It is Women's national day in here, my country. It should be a memorable day for any woman who are in my country, but somewhere in the world, there are still have some bad news about womens. I dont really know wat to say in your situation, but I hope you can pass this events and try your best in anything you can, so your mom from the other side will always be proud of you.

This is because most social media platforms, like Facebook and Instagram, have implemented algorithms that often delete your posts and prevent you from sharing your sadness with others.
